How to recover content advisor password lost?

Content Advisor is a feature in Internet Explorer that allows supervisors to restrict the web sites that the users can browse. The supervisor can set a password in order to prevent from other users from changing the Content Advisor properties. If the supervisor forgets the password, he cannot change the Content Advisor properties in the regular way. The simplest way to solve this problem is to delete the password in the Registry. The following is how to do it:

1. Click Start

2. Click Run.

3. Type in: regedit and click OK.

4, Go to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\POLICIES\RATINGS

5. Right click on the "Ratings" entry and then select Delete.

6. Exit the Registry editor.

Now you can open IE and disable the Content Advisor. Once you are prompted for the Supervisor Password, leave the password box blank and then click OK. You can now re-enable the Content Advisor feature and create a new Supervisor Password.
